Cancun Travel - Girl’s Trip!

A gal pal trip is needed, not sure where to go or how to even start planning? Let me, your travel angel, help! Let’s plan a gal pal trip to Cancun! Why? Beautiful beaches, Chichen Itza is close, which is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, you can swim with dolphins, there are adventurous activities like ATV riding, you can go on a sunset and wine cruise, luxurious accommodations in all budget ranges, and so much more! Come on, let the planning begin! Let’s say you and a gal pal are going in May, want to go for 4 nights, and your budget is $1,500. I will show you how I would plan the trip below. 

But really, Cancun came to mind because an email from Scott’s Cheap Flights was in my email and was basically telling me CANCUN IS THE PLACE TO GO! Because round trip flights from Denver/Chicago are ONLY $198-$219 to Cancun (depending on time you travel). That is a huge money saver. Steps to plan your travel!

1) When are you going? May 18-22

3) What is each person’s budget? $1,500

4) First, book your flights! I use Google Flights and Scott’s Cheap Flights. REMINDER, Southwest flights don’t show up on Google Flights. I have the Southwest Companion Pass this year, so my fiancé flies with me for FREE all year. Want to earn Southwest Points fast? Sign up for the Southwest credit card and get their sign on bonus. Here is what I found on Google Flights and I checked Southwest, this is the best deal! Remember, Frontier you do have to pay for bags so add that to your budget!

5)  Next, book your accommodations! I am currently LOVING all-inclusive. For this gal pal trip, I decided on the Yucatan Resort Playa Del Carmen. Which is a 4-star all-inclusive resort. Have you seen the pools, the rooms, the dining, and drinks…it looks fabulous! Currently, they are running a winter special as well (I wrote this post January 2022). 

For 4 nights at this all-inclusive it is only $449 per person. See below. Note, the total package price below includes the extra adventures and travel insurance.

6) Up next, book your ADVENTURES! My favorite part. However, sometimes you just want a relaxing trip with no extra excursions, and that is completely okay. For my honeymoon, we don’t really want to do any excursions, just enjoy the resort!  

For this trip, my budget is $1500. I wanted to do the Chichen Itza Deluxe Tour which is $147 per person. I have personally been here, it is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. I am not a history person, but I am so glad we went there and it was cool to see it in person. 

The second adventure I planned for this trip was a DOLPHIN SWIM! Okay, come on y’all this is so fun. I have done this before and it was a memory I will never forget. This is only $137 per person!

Travel Budget Tips!

When budgeting, remember to budget things like airport parking, pet sitting (if you have pets), transportation at destination if you need that, extra money for buying gifts/things from destination, and any hotel fees/tips. Here is the breakdown of my Cancun gal pal trip for 4 nights, 5 days!
